Ondo State Police Redeploy DPO Over Mandy Kiss’s Viral Video

The Ondo State Police Command has redeployed the Divisional Police Officer of the Enu-Owa Division following a viral video showing social media influencer Adefolarin Ayomiposi, better known as Mandy Kiss, filming and photographing two female suspects inside a police station.

The decision, ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, came after widespread public criticism over what many described as a breach of professional conduct by the officers involved.

According to the police, preliminary findings revealed that Mandy Kiss was not accompanied by any police officer during the supposed arrest of the suspects, identified as Mrs. Akinwole Sabitu and her daughter, Miss Akinwole Oyindamola, who were accused of cyberbullying. The influencer was said to have tracked and handed them over to the Enu-Owa Division with the help of her social media followers.

Investigators confirmed that after handing over the suspects, Mandy Kiss proceeded to take photographs and record videos of them within the station premises, later posting the materials online. The command described her action as a clear violation of due process and the suspects’ right to presumption of innocence.

Commissioner Lawal condemned the DPO’s failure to maintain professional standards, describing it as a serious lapse in judgment and supervisory responsibility. He said such conduct damages public confidence in the police and will not be tolerated.

The Commissioner also reminded officers that recording or publishing images of suspects in custody contravenes both ethical and procedural guidelines of the force. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to discipline, accountability, and the protection of human rights.

The incident has once again stirred debate about the influence of social media figures in law enforcement and the growing need for proper oversight within police operations across Nigeria.
