BREAKING: Truce Hang In Balance As Fresh Israel Strike Kill 44 In Gaza After Hamas Violates Ceasefire
At least 44 people have been killed following a fresh wave of Israeli air strikes across Gaza, according to BBC.
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that More than half of the casualties were reported at Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza, as renewed hostilities plunged the region back into fear and chaos less than a week after a ceasefire was declared.
Residents in southern Gaza said at least 12 air strikes hit eastern Khan Younis in what witnesses described as a “fire belt,” sending plumes of smoke across the city and forcing displaced families to flee once again.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it had launched what it called a “renewed enforcement” of the ceasefire, insisting it would “respond forcefully to any violation of the agreement.”
However, Hamas denied violating the truce, with political bureau member Izzat al-Rishq condemning the attacks as “a blatant violation of the ceasefire and an attempt to provoke the resistance and derail mediation efforts led by Egypt and Qatar.”
He warned that continued Israeli air strikes could “push the situation toward a total collapse.”
The renewed bombardment comes amid mounting tension following reported clashes between Hamas fighters and a pro-Israeli militia in Rafah, prompting heavy air and artillery fire near the European Hospital.
The strikes have shattered what little calm Gazans had begun to feel after years of conflict, with panic spreading across communities and prices of essential goods surging once more.
