A startling prophecy declared during the Crossover Service at Freedom for All Nations Outreach (FANO) by Prophet Samuel Akinbodunse has unfolded dramatically in South Africa’s political and security landscape.

During the watch-night service, the respected cleric warned that he saw “great controversy in the office of defence and in the office of the police”, cautioning that the unrest would shake the nation. He further declared that the Ministry of Defence should be prayed for as “a lot of secrets will be revealed”, and that celebrated leaders in the police force should prepare because “the next thing I saw was the door of prison. Many politicians, police officials and defence leaders will be affected.”

Just months later, South Africa is witnessing a storm that mirrors this prophecy.

Interestingly, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has been placed on an immediate leave of absence following damning allegations of links to organised crime groups. The President also established a judicial commission of inquiry to investigate the claims, describing the scandal as a threat to the constitution and national security.

Ramaphosa named law professor Firoz Cachalia as interim police minister, while pledging that the inquiry—led by the Deputy Chief Justice—would probe both current and former police officials, politicians, and even members of the national executive.

The allegations against Mchunu are explosive. He stands accused of interfering in investigations into political killings, protecting corrupt networks within law enforcement, and receiving financial backing from businessman Vusimuzi Matlala, who is currently facing attempted murder charges. KwaZulu-Natal provincial police boss Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi further claimed that over 121 sensitive case files linked to political assassinations and drug cartels were improperly removed and left dormant under the minister’s instruction.

Though Mchunu denied wrongdoing—insisting he welcomes the inquiry and values integrity—the scandal has rocked the ANC government. Analysts warn that it could derail his ambitions for higher office in the party ahead of the 2027 elective conference.

For many South Africans, the unfolding events appear to confirm Prophet Akinbodunse’s words. The cleric’s foresight of “drama in the police and defence forces” and of leaders facing imprisonment is strikingly reflected in the current national uproar.

As South Africa watches the judicial inquiry unfold, the prophecy has sparked renewed conversations on the role of spiritual insight in national affairs.

Prophet Akinbodunse has urged continued prayer for the nation, warning that “what is hidden will be exposed, and the coming days will test the integrity of South Africa’s leadership.”
