At Last, Nyesom Wike Speaks On Contesting Against Tinubu In 2027

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has made it clear that he will not contest the 2027 presidential election.

He spoke on Monday during his monthly media chat in Abuja, explaining that he would not run against President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him to his current office.

Wike, who previously governed Rivers State, said even though the Peoples Democratic Party has zoned its ticket to the South, he has no intention of joining the race.

According to him, it would be against his principles to contest while Tinubu remains in power.

He stressed that his decision was based on loyalty and personal conviction rather than political calculation.

Wike also spoke about his role in sustaining the PDP, saying the party might have collapsed if not for his commitment.

The minister noted that no opposition party can thrive in the face of internal crisis, urging his party to manage its challenges carefully.

He added that he does not need to hold a governorship seat to influence events within the PDP or stir issues that could weaken the party.

Wike insisted that solving problems within the opposition requires humility and restraint, not arrogance or impunity.
