BREAKING: VP Shettima To Accompany Muhammadu Buhari’s Remains Back To Nigeria From UK
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to the United Kingdom to accompany the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria.
The directive follows the official announcement of the passing of the former president, who died in London on Sunday at approximately 4:30 p.m. after a prolonged illness.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed profound sorrow over Buhari’s death and extended heartfelt condolences to his widow, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, and the entire family.
As part of national mourning, the President has ordered that all flags across the country be flown at half-mast in honour of the late statesman.
President Buhari served as Nigeria’s democratically elected leader from 2015 to 2023, and previously as military Head of State between 1984 and 1985.
