BREAKING: Hostilities Deepen As Iran Fires Fresh 100 Ballistic Missiles Into Israel
Tensions in the Middle East reached a dangerous new height overnight as Iran launched a second wave of missile and drone attacks on Israel under its military campaign codenamed True Promise 3, according to Iranian state media.
The latest barrage reportedly involved more than 100 missiles targeting key cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa.
State TV in Tehran ominously declared that the operation would “disrupt the sleep of residents” across Israel. Drones were also reportedly part of the assault, compounding the challenge for Israel’s missile defense systems.
In response, the BBC said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it was conducting retaliatory airstrikes on military targets inside Tehran, while simultaneously deploying its missile defense systems to intercept the incoming attacks.
“The IDF has identified that missiles were recently launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel,” the military said in a statement issued shortly after sirens began sounding in multiple cities.
“Defense systems are working to intercept the threat. You must enter the protected areas upon receiving the alert, and remain there until further notice.”
Sirens wailed in Haifa, Kiryat, and other areas across northern Israel. Israeli media reported multiple explosions, though it remains unclear whether they were caused by successful interceptions or impacts on the ground.
Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said its teams were dispatched to two locations following reports of possible impacts.
“At this stage, no calls have been received at MDA’s 101 hotline about casualties,” said a spokesperson.
The Israeli Fire and Rescue Authority confirmed that teams were responding to debris-related damage, residential impacts, and fires sparked in open spaces across coastal and northern regions.
While Israel’s Home Front Command later announced that civilians could leave protected areas, it urged the public to remain close to shelters and monitor further instructions.
