BREAKING: Chelsea Officially Sign Liam Delap From Ipswich On £30m Deal [PHOTO]
CHELSEA have confirmed the signing of striker Liam Delap from Ipswich on a long-term deal.
The English centre forward is believed to have cost the Blues around £30 million and is eligible to play for them in the FIFA Club World Cup later in June.
“Chelsea is delighted to announce the transfer of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, with the striker signing a contract until 2031,” the English Premier League club stated tonight.
“An England Under-21 international, Delap struck 12 times in the Premier League during the 2024/2025 campaign and was shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year award.”
Delap said: “I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach. It’s going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies.”
Delap started his career in Derby County’s academy before joining Manchester City in 2019.
After a season with the club’s Under-18s, he graduated to the Elite Development Squad, where he played under current Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca.
Delap spent the 2023/2024 season with Hull City and, after scoring eight goals, secured a move to newly-promoted Ipswich Town, where he netted 12 goals in 37 Premier League appearances.
