BREAKING: Record Breaking As PSG Becomes First Elite Football Club To Hold Bitcoin In Treasury
The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has become the first elite football club to publicly hold Bitcoin as part of its corporate treasury. The announcement was made on May 29, 2025, during the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas.
Pär Helgosson, Head of PSG Labs, disclosed that the club began converting a portion of its fiat reserves into Bitcoin in 2024 as part of a long-term financial strategy. “Bitcoin offers a strong hedge against inflation and aligns with our innovation goals,” Helgosson said.
With this move, PSG joins a growing list of companies such as MicroStrategy and GameStop that have adopted Bitcoin. However, it is the first major sports organisation to take this step.

The initiative is also aimed at strengthening engagement with PSG’s predominantly young and tech-oriented fanbase, over 80% of whom are under the age of 34.
Additionally, the club announced plans to expand PSG Labs—its innovation division—to support Bitcoin and Web3 startups through funding and international exposure.
PSG has previously ventured into digital assets through partnerships with Socios.com and Crypto.com, NFT campaigns, and by operating a validator node on the Chiliz blockchain.
At the time of the announcement, Bitcoin was trading at approximately $106,118.
