BREAKING: Finland Approves Simon Ekpa’s Extradition To Nigeria [SEE DATE]

Finnish authorities have fixed July 15, 2025, as the date to extradite Simon Ekpa to Nigeria.

Ekpa, a Finnish-Nigerian man accused of terrorism and promoting violence, will be returned to Nigeria after several months of talks between both countries.

He was arrested in Lahti, Finland, in November 2024 after he was linked to actions that caused tension in Southeastern Nigeria.

According to Finnish police, Ekpa used social media to encourage attacks and fear in that part of the country.

His name has long been associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group calling for a separate country.

He also claimed to be leading a version of a Biafran government from abroad.

Investigations showed that he may have played a role in organizing attacks against officers and pushing people to stay indoors in protest actions that disrupted lives and businesses.

Four other people were also arrested in connection with funding his activities.

Nigeria has been asking for his extradition for some time and finally got approval after presenting enough evidence.

Finnish law usually prevents sending its citizens outside Europe, but in this case, an agreement was reached.

The deal followed guidelines both countries signed under an international treaty.

A Finnish court gave the final go-ahead on April 18, setting July 15 as the date he would be sent to Nigeria.

Authorities in both countries agreed to handle the process lawfully.
