Suarez played alongside Lionel Messi at Barcelona and their families were very close. They won the Champions League together – forming an iconic strike partnership alongside Brazil forward Neymar.
Gaston Edul, who reports TyC Sports in Argentina, said that Suarez and Miami have been negotiating for months and progress has been made.
Miami co-owner Jorge Mas had previously promised to bring ‘three or four’ more players of Messi’s caliber to Inter Miami.
Suarez, 36, was recently playing for Brazilian team Gremio but enjoyed a glittering career in Europe. Before Barcelona, he had three electrifying seasons with Liverpool and also played for Ajax and Atletico Madrid.
