BREAKING: #Everton Football Club For Sale?—Everton have not been put up for sale for £500million by majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, despite reports on Tuesday claiming they have.
Moshiri sacked manager Frank Lampard on Monday with Everton languishing in 19th place in the Premier League table.
The Iranian-born businessman took over at Goodison Park in February 2016 and, despite heavy investment, has come under increasing pressure from fans in recent years.
But, in a video posted on Everton’s official website on Tuesday, Moshiri was unequivocal when asked by a leader of a fan’s forum if he was planning to sell the club, insisting: ‘No.’
Instead, Moshiri shared his optimism at being able to secure investment in the club ahead of their move to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock scheduled for the start of the 2024-25 season.
He said: ‘The club is not for sale but I’ve been talking to top investors, real quality, to bridge the gap on the stadium. I can do it myself and the reason I want to do it is to bring top sport investors into Everton for some of the reasons that the fans want improvement, more talent, and we are close to having a deal done.
‘It’s not selling the club at all. It’s just bringing more expertise in terms of global sponsorship, in terms of commercial development and a lot of specialist sport investors have this pool of knowledge. It’s to secure that for Everton.’
