Nigerian comedian Basketmouth has announced on Facebook that himself and his wife, Elsie Uzoma Okpocha are getting a divorce.
The popular comedian whose real name is Bright Okpocha made the announcement on Thursday afternoon via his Facebook platform.
Making the announcement, he captioned the post, “For the first and the last time.”
Read his full statement below.
“As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation.”
He continued, “After much deliberations, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end out marriage.
As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love, guidance and support they need.”
The concluding part of his statement read, “We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. Thank you.”
The now estranged couple dated for several years before they decided to walk down the aisle on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Giwa Barrack, Falomo, Ikoyi, Lagos state.
Their union was blessed with two children, equally, Basketmouth has another child from a previous relationship.
The popular comedian has now joined the elongating list of Nigerian celebrities who have ended their marriages in 2022.
