#RTEAN To Support #FRSC In Checking Touting And Hooliganism In Motor Parks—–The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has promised to support the  Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in checking touting, thuggery and hooliganism in motor parks across the country.

RTEAN’s National President, Dr Musa Muhammed, made the pledge on Friday when he led executive members of the association on a courtesy visit to the FRSC headquarters in Abuja.

Musa said that association has the legal authority over all motor parks’ activities across the country.

He said it was also saddled with the responsibility of ensuring orderliness in the parks, as well as passengers’ welfare and safety of lives and properties.

“We are mandated to organise or participate in periodic road safety campaign aimed at educating those actively involved in road transport.

“Drivers are expected to perform their civic responsibilities to the traveling masses and to see that they understand and adhere to the existing rules, regulations and codes.

“Generally, we do all that are humanly possible to enhance the prestige and smooth progress of the road transport industry in all shapes and forms.

“We assure you of our continuous maximum cooperation and support to ensure and restore sanity on our roads,” he said.

The RTEAN boss said that the association would support the  FRSC to discharge its responsibilities to road users.

In his response, Acting Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu said that  partnership between both organisations in the areas of public enlightenment and education would help in curtailing road crashes.

Biu enjoined the association to ensure that its members make use of the toll free number 122 during emergencies.

He also encouraged drivers to always tune to FRSC’s National Traffic Radio 107.1fm for traffic update and to get enlightened on safety driving to avert traffic accidents.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that RTEAN is the umbrella body of all owners, unions and individuals engaged in the transportation of passengers, goods and services in Nigeria.
