#UNIBEN VC Challenges Medical And Dental Consultants On Brain Drain—-The Vice-Chancellor,  University of Benin, Prof. Lilian Salami, has challenged medical and dental consultants to urgently address the escalating incidences of brain drain in the country.

Salami made the call in a statement issued through the university ‘s Public Relations unit and obtained by newsmen on Saturday in Benin.

He gave the challenge at the opening of the 2022 National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), in the state.

The vice-chancellor, who was  the chairman of the event, asserted that the incidences of brain drain had plagued the country’s health sector for too long.

The don frowned at the exodus of doctors, consultants and other health workers from the country.

Salami said, ”it is normal for people to seek greener pastures,” adding that there was the need for health care practitioners to take their professional oath of care for others, more seriously and make necessary sacrifices.

“The country is going through challenges and all hands must be on deck to make the society a better place for all.
