14434 Registered For #PVC In Agege - #INEC Official

14434 Registered For #PVC In Agege – #INEC Official—Mrs Olanike Lawal, Electoral Officer, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says  14, 434 residents have registered for Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) in Agege Community of Lagos State.

Lawal who disclosed this on Thursday at  the Annual Constituency Stakeholders Meeting of the Lagos State House of Assembly,  decried the  low collection of PVCs  in the area.

Newsmen reports that the annual constituency stakeholders meeting was organised by the Lagos assembly to sensitise constituents on the imperatives of PVC toward the 2023 general elections.

According to Lawal,  the PVC  registration will  end officially on June 30 (today)  adding that there is no directive regarding extension of the exercise from the commission’s  headquarters.

“We have 14, 434 registered residents that have collected their PVC, out of the number,  8,332 are male while 6, 102 are female.

“There are many benefits attached to the new PVC, it is a digitalised  card that has many advantages, we urge  residents to ensure to get registered for their PVC today precisely.”

Rep. Samuel Adejare (APC- Agege-)   in his remarks,  also appealed to the constituents to get their PVCs to allow them exercise their franchise in 2023.

“Your voter’s card is your power, that’s why we are here to encourage you to  get it  to enable you cast your votes when the time comes,” Adejare said.

Mr Yinka Ogundimu, lawmaker representing  Agege state constituency  II in his remarks, stressed the need for constituents to obtain their PVCs.

Ogundimu said  the PVCs would enable them chose their leaders without  external influence.

“Many things have changed now politically, the new PVC will have  your data and  there’s no room for electoral fraud and other electoral malpractices.

Mrs Felicia Adepeju, a resident of Agege said the public sensitisations was a good exercise as it would encourage and educate them more on the importance of voting.

Adepeju, a former community development committee  chairman in Orile Agege,  urged the government to extend the date for the PVC registrations.

“Government must make it compulsory for all residents to have the PVC to curb challenges of voter appathy, because many people hide on  the pretence of no PVC to avoid voting.

“We appeal for extension of  the registration date to accommodate more people,” he said
