Cross River Basin Authority Allocates N200m To Fish Pond—Fourteen months after its facilities were vandalised by #EndSARS protesters, the Cross River Basin Development Authority (CRBDA) has allocated N200 million for the construction of a fish pond.

Its spokesman, Mr Jackson John, told newsmen that a lot would be achieved with the 10,000 fingerlings-capacity fish pond.

He said the river basin already concluded plan for the pond before protesters vandalised the premises and disrupted the idea.

He added that after the destruction of its facilities, it carried out major renovations and put up structures better than the ones vandalised.

“During the #EndSARS protest, our green houses were destroyed and all chicks looted, but as we speak now, we have restocked them.

“Before the protest, we had about 5,000 chicks, but now we have capacity for about 10,000 broilers and layers.

“We were working on a drip irrigation system but the protest disrupted the entire activity and most facilities were vandalised. We are bringing them back soon,’’ John said.

On his part, Mr Inyang Umana, Senior Commercial Officer, CRBDA said that what the organisation had was a mini Shongai Integrated Farm.

“Wastes leaves from our farm are feed to the Pigs after harvest. We have just two hectares and we have poultry, a fish ponds, and pig sty, mushroom garden and green houses for the crops.

“You don’t need all the land in the world to achieve this
