Bureau Develops Performance Assessment Tool For MDAs to enhance service delivery—-The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) has developed a performance assessment tool for Ministries, Departments and Agencies aimed at improving service delivery, the Director-General of the Bureau, Mr Dasuki Arabi, has said.

Arabi made the disclosure at the opening of the Bureau’s 2022 BPSR Staff Strategic Plan Retreat, on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that results of the assessment would be compiled quarterly and presented to the Federal Executive Council.

“In view of the strategic position of the Bureau in the public space of governance, it developed Self-Assessment Tool and was approved by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation with the directive to deploy the Tool in all Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

“And, submit quarterly report on the exercise to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for onward transmission to Federal Executive Council.

“The objective of the tool is to assess all public institutions on their health status and provide recommendations for improved performance and service delivery to citizens,” he added.

Arabi disclosed that the Bureau had also developed a score card for ranking of MDAs Websites to determine their usefulness in the provision of information to citizens on government programmes and services.

Arabi assured that the Bureau would continue to hold reform seminars in 2022 to elucidate topical issues in the public service.

He added that it would engage civil society groups and development partners in an attempt to build public trust, transparency and accountability in governance

On the retreat, the director-general said it was to identify challenges encountered by the staff in 2021 while implementing the Bureau’s Strategic Plan.2021-2025

According to Arabi, the retreat will allow the staff to proffer solutions and recommendations to address the challenges.

“It is my hope and expectations, therefore, that at the end of the retreat, staff of the Bureau would have been better informed, focused and more committed in the discharge of their official responsibilities.”

He added that it was also to set the direction and roadmap for the staff, build their capacity, competencies and up-scale their skills to enable them drive the vision of the Bureau to achieve desired outcomes
