REPORT: Zinedine Zidane To Manchester United?—Former Real Madrid coach and Former French former professional football player, Zinedine Zidane has reportedly turned down the chance to become the next Manchester United manager.
The former Real Madrid boss emerged as United’s number one target following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning and the Glazers were ready to sanction a move for him.
It’s understood that the Frenchman isn’t prepared to work in England yet, and his wife is apparently not keen on the move either.
United will have to turn their attention to other targets such as Brendan Rodgers, Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Haag, who have all been linked with the club in recent weeks.
United have been keen on Pochettino for some time, but it’ll likely be difficult to prise him away from Paris Saint Germain, given that he only joined the club 10 months ago.
Although in a surprising turn of events, reports suggest that PSG would look to hire Zidane if Pochettino does end up jumping ship to United.
Zidane is one of the world’s most in-demand coaches following two successful spells with Madrid.
He joined Los Blancos in January 2016 before guiding them to three consecutive Champions League titles as well as a La Liga title in 2017.
In 2018 he stepped down citing a need for change at the club, but was re-hired less than a year later.
He guided Madrid to yet another La Liga title in 2020 before resigning for the second time in May 2021.
