BREAKING: IGP Usman Baba Orders Probe Of Alleged Collaboration With #Hushpuppi—The Genius Media Nigeria reports that Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has on Thursday, July 29 ordered the probe of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari over his indictment in money laundering scheme by infamous Nigerian fraudster, Ramon Abbas better known as Hushpuppi.
Recall, Hushpuppi earlier alleged that he bribed Kyari to arrest and jail one of his rivals in Nigeria after a dispute over a $1.1 million scam on Qatari businessperson.
The top detective, however, denied the allegation, claiming that his “hands are clean”, alleging that he only offered to help Hushpuppi after the socialite raised an alarm that Vincent Kelly Chibuzo, his co-fraudster, allegedly threatened his family in Nigeria.
The DCP added that the international fraudster saw some of clothes on his social media page and he expressed interest in shopping for them.
Kyari explained that he then connected the seller of the clothes with Hushpuppi and he N300,000 directly to the person’s account for native attires and five caps.
However, an investigation by Andrew John Innocenti, a special agent with the FBI, revealed the pair had a long-standing relationship.
According to the report, admitted as evidence at the US district court in California, the DCP first met Hushpuppi in 2018 when he visited him in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who lived at Palazzo Versace in the Emirati commercial capital before his arrest.
The document also revealed that during the visit, Hushpuppi sent a car and his driver to pick up Kyari.
It added that their meeting led to several interactions including the arrest of Chibuzo.
Reacting to this amid various calls for the sack and investigation of DCP Abba Kyari, the IGP through CP Frank Mba, police public relations officer ordered an internal review of the allegations.
