#TwitterBan: Read What Twitter Said After Buhari Suspends Twitter in Nigeria—The micro-blogging site and American tech giant, Twitter, has reacted to the Nigerian Government’s decision to ban the company’s operations in the country.

The Genius Media Nigeria reports that While the Nigerian Government has yet to disclose how it intends to implement the ban, the country’s information minister, Lai Mohamed, had said the government’s decision was based on, “the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence”.

The San Francisco-based company had on Wednesday deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet for violating its abusive behaviour policy.

In the tweet, the Nigerian president had made reference to the Biafra-Nigerian civil war and threatened to teach violent secession agitators in the South East region “in the language they will understand”.

Some Nigerians had found the tweet offensive and deemed it as connoting threat of genocide.

The civil war had claimed more than 2.5 million Biafran lives in the current day South East region.
