Methodist Old Boys Association, Club 81 Holds Career Talk/Book Fair For 40th Anniversary In Lagos—-As part of activities to mark the 40th year anniversary of their graduation, the 1976-1981 set of the famed Methodist Boys’ High School (MBHS Club 81), on Friday March 12, 2021, held a career talk and book Fair at the Assembly Hall of the school now located at 77-78 Sinari Daranijo Street Victoria Island from its iconic 11 Broad Street, Lagos address.
Panelists at the event included Prof. Abiodun Akinkunmi, a former Commissioner of Finance in Ambode Administration and Board Member of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN); Barrister Olasupo Ati-John, Commissioner, Lagos State Judicial Service Commission and Principal partner, Supo Ati-John & Co, – Legal Practitioners & Notaries Public; Dr. Wale Aderemi, Associate Professor and Former Head, Dept. of Political Science, LASU and Director, Democratic Studies, National Institute for Legislative Studies, National Assembly, Abuja; Mr. Vincent Buraimoh, a Chartered Accountant, and Mr. Lorenzo Adewunmi Gomez, a former Senior Manager with Coca-Cola, Guinness, Former Coordinating Commercial Director with Globacom.
Others were Dr. Donald Nkasiobi Anyogu, Medical Director of Rhowil Totalcare Medicals Ltd; Rear Admiral Olatunji Beckley, Fleet Commander, Central Fleet, Yenogoa, Bayelsa State; Hon. Olukemi Banjo, former Vice Chairman and Chairman Lagos Mainland LGA; Mr. Oluranti Carew, former Regional Director UBA Plc; Engr. Waheed Johnson, Director of Engineering Services, Lagos State New Towns Development Authority; Mr. Tunji Ayoade, Microbiologist and Private Teacher, and Mr. Gregory Enahoro, Chief Executive of Knightsbridge Ltd.
The anniversary will culminate in July with several activities and an endowment for the school.
Founded in 1878, Methodist Boys High School, Lagos (MBHS Lagos) was the second secondary school established in Nigeria, after the CMS Grammar School, Bariga, Lagos founded in 1859.
The school was formally opened on March 14, 1878 with Rev. W. Terry Coppin as the first principal. In April 1878, the first batch of twelve students were taken in.
