That Chief Dan Ulasi KAKAAKI/AIT Appearance Of 11th January 2021—-Chief Dan Ulasi, a former State Chairman of Anambra State Chapter of PDP, is a man whose patriotism, eloquence, honesty and understanding of political issues I have respected.
So, when it was announced that he would be a studio guest of the AIT breakfast TV magazine programme, Kakaaki, this morning of Monday, 11th January 2021, I stayed tuned.
I was however disappointed that what had been billed as “state of the nation” interview quickly degenerated to a Governor David Nweze Umahi bashing for having the temerity to defect from Chief Ulasi’s beloved PDP to APC.
That Chief Dan Ulasi KAKAAKI/AIT Appearance Of 11th January 2021
Chief Ulasi’s performance today was terribly subjective and intolerant of Governor Umahi’s right to make his own democratic decision. The kind of subjectivity and intolerance that Chief Ulasi displayed today cannot help us in the South-East.
And when, as he did today perhaps out of frustration that Governor Umahi abandoned the sinking PDP for the new APC, Chief Ulasi presented Senator Pius Anyim and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as excellent performers in government, Chief Ulasi inadvertently confirmed that PDP (particularly in the South-East) is truly sinking, even if he had been paid to tell that fat lie.
So did he expect Governor Umahi to sink with the PDP ship? If Chief Ulasi’s intention today was to intimidate and blackmail remaining three South-East governors not to join their Chairman (Governor Umahi) in APC,  I wish him well.
But the disappointments of PDP in the South-East since 1999 is the reason why many of us have defected to other parties. Chief Ulasi is from Nnewi and should be worried that his senatorial zone now belongs to a much smaller progressive party (YPP) than APC.
If progressive parties like APC, APGA and YPP came to some agreement, I wonder who would remain in PDP in Chief Ulasi’s Anambra State, especially this 2021 governorship election year in the “Light of the Nation”.
He should please not blame Governor Umahi for over two decades of PDP taking South-East and South-Easterners for granted.
Defections from PDP to APC must continue in the South-East without molestation, please. The development is very healthy for our politics.
