NEWS FLASH: Kano House Of Assembly Speaker And Majority Leader Resign—The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa and the House Majority Leader, Kabiru Hassan Dashi, have tendered their resignation.
The Genius media Nigeria reports that the resignation of the two Assembly leaders was confirmed by the lawmaker representing Doguwa constituency, Salisu Ibrahim Riruwai.
TGM reports that the resignation letters were received at 1:08 am Tuesday by the Kano Assembly.
“The speaker resigned on his own personal reason, according to his resignation letter sent to the 9th Assembly platform at 1:08am, while the majority leader did not give reason for his resignation,” Ibrahim said.
No specific reason has been given for the decisions as at the time of filing in this report.
A new speaker and a majority leader, according to Doguwa, would emerge during plenary later Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the abduction of over 300 students from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, in Katsina State.
An unconfirmed number of students were kidnapped in Kankara, Katsina State on Friday morning.
It was reported that the gunmen stormed the boarding school on foot during the day time, collected student belongings and led a large number of them into the bush.
However, in an audio obtained by HumAngle on the early hour of today (Tuesday), December 15, Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, stated that they are responsible for the abduction of the children and that no one can do anything about it.
His statement in the less than 5 minutes audio reads; “What happened in Katsina was done to promote Islam and discourage un-Islamic practices as Western education is not the type of education permitted by Allah and his Holy Prophet,”
