LASU Students, Others Get E-Learning Portals Amid COVID-19 Lockdown

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the use of special e-portals that would allow LASU,  other state-owned tertiary institutions to commence online lectures for students during lockdown imposed by to gain control over coronavirus in the state.

Sanwo-Olu approved the virtual classes to ensure physical distancing and other measures to reduce the impact of coronavirus among students and their lecturers were sustained in the state.

The seven schools that will benefit from the initiative are Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State Polytechnic, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Lagos College of Health Technology and Lagos State College of Nursing and Midwifery.

Confirming the approval on Friday, Special Adviser to the governor on Education​, Tokunbo Wahab, explained that the platforms were approved to further help in the maintenance of the State’s tertiary academic calendar during the lockdown targeted to aid the country to flatten the curve of coronavirus.

Wahab, however, appealed to students in the seven tertiary institutions to maximize the unique opportunity and keep themselves engaged in academic activities while the lockdown arising from the pandemic lasts in the state.

‘Our special thanks must go to the governor for the approval and for making Lagos the pacesetter among 21st-century knowledge-driven societies’.
