The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) power plant at Akinyemi area of Ibadan was Wednesday morning razed by fire.
Already, there are fears of possible blackout in major parts of Ibadan and other major towns in Oyo and part of Ogun state with the early morning inferno at the Ibadan IBEDC power plant.
According to reliable sources, the power plant popularly known as Ayede power plant supply major parts of Ibadan and over 10 towns in Ogun state.
The sources added that should the early morning inferno have major effects on the power plant, the towns hooked to the power plant may be shut of national grid.
Men of the Oyo state Fire brigade service joined by others from nearby firms are presently battling with the fire as at the time of filing this report.
Also, security agents are busy mounting surveillance around the area.
