HIP DISORDER: Ghanaian Nurse In Dire Need Of GHC 33,000 To Undergo Surgery

A young Ghanaian nurse identified as Francisca Antwiwaa is in dire need of a whopping GHC 32,180 to correct a hip disorder.

She is currently on admission at the Methodist Hospital at Wenchi and efforts to raise the said amount has become a herculean task.

She is, however, asking for support from the general public as she is set to undergo surgery.

Per what we saw from her folder, she is suffering from Avascular Necrosis of Left Hip (AVN).

Anyone willing to help can do so via the number below;
0245422881 (Gloria Commey)

After seeing the condition, we dug to ascertain what is actually the AVN and we saw that;

AVN is also known as Hip osteonecrosis. It is a condition which affects the blood supply to the bone of the hip joint. This condition occurs when there is an interruption of the blood flow to the head of the femur (the ball, of the ball-and-socket hip joint).

The lack of normal blood supply to the bone cells causes a decrease in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the bone, and the bone cells subsequently die. When the bone cells are damaged, the strength of the bone is greatly diminished, and the bone is susceptible to collapse.

On record, the exact cause of that condition is unknown. However, when it occurs, the bone collapses and the joint surface, the cartilage, loses its support. Due to the fact that the cartilage loses the support of the bone underneath, the joint surface is quickly worn away, and arthritis quickly progresses.

Most patients with hip osteonecrosis are associated with either alcoholism or steroid use. Other risk factors for developing hip osteonecrosis include sickle cell disease, trauma to the hip (dislocation or fracture), lupus, and some genetic disorders.

Hip osteonecrosis usually has few warning signs. Patients often complain of new-onset hip pain and difficulty walking. Common symptoms of hip osteonecrosis include an aching pain in the groin, pain with movement of the hip and difficulty walking or limp.
