The protesters who were protesting the continued detention of the pro-democracy activists, Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare despite a second court order granting their release stormed the DSS office on Tuesday morning but were met with resistance by the officials who started shooting sporadically to disperse them.
This morning a large number of armed DSS operatives were stationed around the building in an effort to beefed up security around its facility.
Recall, Mr Sowore was last month granted bail by the Federal High Court in his ongoing trial for alleged treason and alleged plot to overthrow the present government. He met the stringent bail conditions on November 6, but the SSS has declined to release him.
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, on Sunday raised the alarm on a plan by the DSS to file a fresh charge against Sowore in a bid to keep him in detention indefinitely.
Meanwhile, the demonstrators have been asking the DSS to comply with a federal court order for Mr Sowore to be released from custody.
