The leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has reacted to news circulating the social media, that some Igbo monarchs are pleading with the Federal Government to pardon him to return to Nigeria, for his mother’s funeral.

TGM had reported that mother of the IPOB leader, Ugoeze Sally Nmemme Kanu, passed away on August 30, 2019 in Germany after a protracted illness.

Since the news of the death of Kanu’s mother, there has been several rumours on the social media, with some claiming that the IPOB leader is begging the Nigerian government to allow him to return to bury his mother and leave the country immediately after the burial, while others say that traditional rulers in Southeast are asking FG to pardon Kanu to return and bury his deceased mother as the first son of the family.

However, reacting to the speculations in an interview on Voice Of America (VOA) Radio monitored by ORIENTAL TIMES in Washington DC on Saturday, Kanu said he never sent anyone to lobby the FG on his behalf.

He also assured that his mother’s funeral most hold.

Kanu also stated that he may or may not attend the burial, but his absence will certainly not stop his late mother from being buried.

“I didn’t send or begged anyone to lobby the federal government of Nigeria on my behalf and will never do that. And even if such request is granted, I will not honour it because the cabals in Rock are not to dictate things for me.

“What I can assure you is that my mother must be buried. When she was alive she told me to do everything within my power to restore Biafra.

“I may attend her burial or may not but certainly the burial most be done,” he said.
