28-year-old Marissa Mowry who started abusing a young boy when he was 11 and later had his baby, has been handed a 20 year jail sentence.
The former nanny employed by a family that lives in Florida when she was 22, received the jail sentence on Wednesday October 16, after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors. The boy Mowry raped at least 15 times over several months is now 17-years-old and trying his best to raise the five year-old child she gave birth to in 2014.
“I thought of her almost as a second daughter. I mean, we’re talking about a child who was 11” the victim’s mother, Nadean Campbell said after the sentence, according to Spectrum Bay News 9.
Campbell who initially thought the baby’s father was Mowry’s boyfriend, got to know about the s*xual abuse after her son came forward. A DNA test on the baby backed his claim.
She further disclosed that her son takes his son to school in the morning before going to school himself, then plays with him in the backyard after he gets home. The altered course of Campbell son’s life has left him with no friends as he’s always busy with his son and it has also affected his dating life, as no one will want to date a 17-year-old with a 5-year-old child.
It was further learnt that Mowry who was facing a life sentence before the plea deal with prosecutors tried to blame her victim, claiming he forced himself on her. She was eventually caught lying after police secretly recorded a phone conversation between her and her victim.
