FAKE NEWS ALERT: “You Can Use Any Finger To Vote” – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has said any finger can be used to vote debunking a fake news that has been spreading that it is only the index finger that is acceptable.

In a question and answer session on the social media page of the commission, they explained that the 10 fingers of the voter were captured in their system and so any is acceptable.

However, voters should ensure that the ink does not cross into another box, otherwise the vote will be considered invalid.

They wrote:

A voter can use any finger but should ensure that his or her mark is clear and placed inside the box of the political party of his or her choice and does not stray into another box.
