Few hours after the suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen and appointment of new Chief justice Of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to to show mix reaction on the latest happenings.

Justice Onnoghen was suspended on Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari on the recommendation of the Code of Conduct Tribunal and Muhammed was sworn-in as the new acting CJN.

In reactions, Twitter users have been wondering if the President has the powers to make such a decision.

They wondered what is the role of the National Judicial Council as well as the National Assembly in such decision.

See some reactions :

Your MCM Buhari just changed the Chief Justice of Nigeria Onnoghen like someone that's changing Sim Card from sim 1 to Sim 2.
.
.
The fact that Buhari still has supporters shows that if some people ever get back into the Garden of Eden, they will still eat the forbidden fruit 😪

What exactly is PDP's interest in keeping a self confessed law breaker on as the Chief justice of Nigeria?

— Daddy D.O🇳🇬 (@DOlusegun) January 25, 2019

Let it be clear that the CCT doesn't have a right to suspend the Chief Justice of Nigeria. They also can't act when a superior court already asked them to stay proceedings. You're a Buharist today hailing this illegality. One day the chicken will come home to roost.

Therefore, it is clear that the power to suspend rests with the NJC, not with the President or the Senate. The problem is that the Chief Justice of Nigeria is the Chairman of the NJC. Council meetings can usually not be convened without the Chairman. What if the Chairman refuses?

The President cannot unilaterally suspend the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

The Vice President @ProfOsinbajo who is a SAN should have advised against this. https://t.co/dAR9xrkPHj

Onnoghen should ignore this "suspension", in the same way he would ignore a "suspension" from me. A President has as much power to suspend a CJN as I do.
The Supreme Court, if it has a soul and spine, should ignore this.
Onnoghen is still the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

The PDP have asked the National Assembly to reconvene ASAP and begin impeachment move against  President @MBuhari for suspending the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.

Does President @MBuhari have the powers to suspend the Chief Justice of Nigeria?

On what constitutional ground did the President suspend and replace the Chief Justice of Nigeria?@SERAPNigeria #OnnoghenCCTtrial @PremiumTimesng pic.twitter.com/K608CtPVoT

The appointment of Justice Ibrahim Tanko, a Sharia Judge as Chief Justice of Nigeria and the composition of security chiefs which are predominantly Muslims is a testament of Buhari’s agenda to Islamize Nigeria.

The suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Onnoghen by Buhari is a testament of his despotic tendency.
You're supporting him, against others because you both belong to APC?
Wait for him to regain power, you will get his wrought in full package! pic.twitter.com/WHO8xt7P9g

Just before the real Chief Justice of Nigeria Onnoghen was about to constitute the Panel to oversee the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Buhari suspends him.

It is ridiculous that Chief Justice of Nigeria wants to rubbish the judiciary by wilfully going against a ruling he gave as regards the CCT being the highest Court in the land on Asset declaration matters. #Onnoghen
