The Alliance for New Nigeria party Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Dania addressed a media briefing of journalists at Protea Hotel, Ikeja GRA on the 1st of October 2018. Mr Dania stated that the party urges the public to disregard any information moving around in the media space of the cancellation of the just concluded presidential primaries, he attributed the information to some elements of the party who are not in the same beliefs with the party.
Dania in the same statement mentioned that the Board of Trustees of the party had met and issued a statement affirming his position as the National Chairman of the party and the affirmation of the emergence of the party’s presidential candidate Mr Fela
Durotoye during the special convention and the Presidential Primary that held on Saturday, September 29, 2018, in Abuja which was duly witnessed and reported by the representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In his statement, the Chairman reiterated that the party is poised to provide a level plain field for every Nigerian in respective of their class, religion and region to aspire to elective positions in the country on its platform and would always stand by the core tenets of its principles of Transparency, Integrity and Excellence. The election was held within the confines of the law and everything went as planned & stipulated under the jurisdiction of the party’s constitution said Dania.
Mr Dania said “We are aware that Mr Gbenga Olawepo- Hashim another presidential aspirant in the party has been going around stating that the presidential primaries should be nullified by the INEC, INEC was duly notified of the election schedule and plans
and the commission had its officials present to witness and observe the process to ensure it is free, fair & credible and they gave a satisfactory remark at the end of the procedure”.
Furthermore, Mr Dania continued while saying initially Gbenga Hashim approached the party asking for a reschedule in the date of the presidential primaries but the basis he gave for the request are obviously not comprehensible because of the guidelines of the
primary election which he claims were not made available, were actually available and we have proof of that, also he said the list of delegates that will be attending the election was not made available, this also is false, so why should we reschedule an election of
such magnitude?. After further consultations, we arranged a meeting where party leaders & the presidential aspirants were supposed to sit and should a compromise be reached, we could have arranged for a rescheduled date for the election but to our surprise, Mr Hashim was absent from the meeting and as such the election had to proceed as planned.”
In his words, “ANN is a party built on believes & values, we didn’t set up this party to be like other political parties, we are Technocrats in Politics, we have come together to form an alliance, not individuals, we believe the party’s representatives at any level will perform to the satisfaction of the masses because even after we have gotten the mandate, the party will not go to sleep waiting for the next election, we will be actively involved in the decision-making process so as to checkmate our representatives at
any level, to ensure that the beliefs of the party are being upheld.
While replying to questions from journalists on how the party intends to unseat the incumbent considering the political strength of both the ANN, the APC & other parties in the race, the chairman said, the party has decided to harness the power of technology to
send its message across board to all 36 states of the country including the capital city. He said, the world keeps changing and we can’t wait until we touch all states physically though that is inevitable but we will make sure we use the various media avenues including the social media to push our brands, preach our gospel and make our messages heard in the four corners of the country.
The party is present in 27 states currently and plans are being made to get the existing interim board members in 8 states sworn in
so that they can have their own primaries for the state governorship & other political offices.
He also wants to use the avenue to assure the public that any aspirant fielded by the party in the 2019 general election is someone who has been tested & trusted, he stated, it’s not about the qualifications but about the achievements of the individuals we are
presenting, we are fielding aspirants that have made something reasonable out of their personal lives and that should be evidence enough for people to know that they know what they are doing and they can turn the fortunes of the country around for good.
Mr Emmanuel Dania rounded up by urging the media to support the calls for a New Nigeria because it is a collective responsibility that we must all come together to achieve, in his words ” we don’t want to be the second force nor the third force but to be the main
force in the political spheres of the country, we believe it might take time but we know it is ever possible because whatever you set
your heart to do is achievable.
