“Nigerian youths recently joined their counterparts worldwide to mark the 2018 International youth day in Abuja with  the theme “Creating Safe Spaces for Nigerian Youth.’’

Youth organisations in Nigeria have appealed to political parties in the country to support the Not- Too- young- To- Run Bill recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari by granting a waiver or 50 per cent discount for nomination forms to aspiring youths in 2019 general elections.

The organisations are the Nigeria Youth Corporate Social Responsibility Fund (NYCSRF), Nigeria Youth Congress (NYC) and Nigerian Youth Parliament.

The appeal was jointly made by the three youth organisations through their leaders–Ubani Vincent of NYCSRF, Murtala Garba, NYC and Obe Ayodele of Nigeria Youth Parliament.

Nigerian youths recently joined their counterparts worldwide to mark the 2018 International youth day in Abuja with  the theme “Creating Safe Spaces for Nigerian Youth.’’

Ubani, who is also an All Progressives Party (APC) governorship aspirant in Abia State, said that NYCSRF was a scheme drafted with the objective of identifying and addressing the key issues bedevilling the development of Nigerian youths.

He said that the program was intended to ensure the success of youth development programmes and the Federal Government’s policies that were related to youths development

Ubani said lack of programmes that directly addressed needs of Nigerian youths were responsible for the unrest in Nigeria.

He commended Buhari for assenting to NTYR Bill as the bill would create an opportunity for a gradual youth takeover of the administration of this country if supported by the political parties by waiving or reduction on the cost of nomination forms.

Ubani called on Nigeria youths to take advantage of the Bill and contest for any elective position of their choice.
