TOTAL NIGERIA PLC PRESENTS STARTER PACKS TO 20 SKILLS ACQUISITION PROGRAM (SAP) BENEFICIARIES IN KADUNA STATE

Total Nigeria Plc on March 15, 2018, presented starter packs to graduating youths of its 2016/2017 Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) in Makera and Kakuri districts of Kaduna State.

These starter packs which are work tools required to establish them in small scale businesses were presented upon the successful completion of their respective one year vocational training. The 20 graduands specializing in Tailoring (7), Computer Studies (6), Hairdressing (2) and Welding (5) received the items at Total Nigeria Plc Lubricant Blending Plant, Kaduna.

The Skills Acquisition Program is a sustainable youth development scheme designed to address one of the company’s focal Corporate Social Responsibility pillars; Local and Economic Development. Under this program, less privileged youths of its host communities are trained and empowered in vocations of their choice which include but are not limited to Welding & Fabrication, Furniture Making, Fashion & Designing, Computer Studies, Hair and Beauty Art and Fish/Crop farming.

Starter packs presented to the 20 Graduating Skills Acquisition Beneficiaries in Makera and Kakuri, Kaduna State by Total Nigeria Plc.

Since its inception in 2008 this program has graduated 90 youths in Kaduna state alone. Upon completion of their training, they are presented with these starter packs and a shop with two years rent already paid. All these are aimed at supporting the sustainability of the businesses towards becoming stable startups.

The Managing Director, Total Nigeria Plc, Jean Philippe Torres in his address read by General Manager, (Human Resources and Corporate Services/Company Secretary), Bunmi Popoola-Mordi, implored the Makera and Kakuri district graduates to continue believing in their capabilities and strengths to become achievers in their different vocations whilst working hard to contribute positively to the growth and development of their communities. In response, the Hon Commissioner for Youths and Sports development Mr. Dan Auta appreciated Total Nigeria Plc for their resilient support over the years.  He urged the youths to put to best use, the equipments they have received and assured them the State Government will henceforth, enforce supervision of the program to ensure its success.
