GTBank frees 15 inmates

The Foremost institutional bank, GTBank in Kano State has freed 15 inmates after paying their ‘minor fines’ in Kurmawa Central Prison, Kano.

The Executive Director of the bank, Alhaji Haruna Musa, who led a delegation of the bank’s personnel, said the gesture was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility.

Musa said the personnel raised N2m from their salaries with a view to assisting the less privileged in hospital, prison and Torrey home.

He said, “We have upset the hospital bills of many patients at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital and freed 15 inmates at Kurmawa central prison.”

At the Torrey Home, Tudun Maliki, Musa handed over to the management of the home, food items including bags of rice, beans, cartons of Maggi cube, detergent, bath soap, tossue and drinks among other items.

At Kurmawa central prison, the personnel also donated similar items to the management of the prison for onward distribution to the inmates and freed 15 inmates.
