Arsenal and Super Eagles striker, Alex Iwobi is demanding for an improved wage bill as he is locked in new contract talks with Aresnal bigwigs.

The Gunners are desperate to extend the young Nigerian international’s contract before the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Iwobi, 21 who has three more years left of his  £30,000-a-week five -year current deal , is adamant on an increased wage to so as to be on the same level with other players of similar status at the North London side.

According to information monitored on The Sun of London, the club’s top brass are keen to reward the attacker for forcing his way into Arsene Wenger’s first-team plans this season with a bumper new contract.

It is understood that talks are ongoing between Arsenal and Iwobi’s representatives, but there is still a long way to go before a new long-term  deal is struck to reflect the progress Iwobi has made in the last 12 months.

The Emirates academy product wants financial parity with other players of similar status at the club and the numbers mooted so far have not been high enough.

The youngster made his debut in 2015 and made 21 appearances scoring two goals and by the end of the season made his full international debut for Nigeria.

Iwobi has made 15 appearances for Arsenal this term and bagged a double in the Super Eagles outstanding win against Argentina in Russia last month.
